Methodology

Why this catalog is different

Validate first

Real songs, sourced and cited.

Every entry is sourced from MTI / Concord / R&H show pages, published vocal selections, or established repertoire references — never invented. Each song carries its source notes inline.

3 validation passes

Composer, show, character.

Each song is independently confirmed for composer / lyricist attribution, show of origin, and the originating character. Voice type, tessitura, and difficulty are coach-reviewed against published sheet music when available.

0% fabrication rate

No AI hallucinations.

Every new addition since our validate-first workflow shipped has been verified against the original cast recording or licensed vocal selection. We’d rather ship fewer songs than the wrong ones.

Common audition books — even ones in print — routinely include miscredited songs and misclassified voice types. The MyMT Manager library was built specifically to fix that for college audition prep.

Inside your audition workflow

Build your audition book, then plug it into every school

The catalog isn’t a separate browsing tool. You curate songs into your own audition book first — tracking what you’re learning, what’s performance-ready, and what you’ve retired — then that same book wires straight into the pre-screen and audition material sections of every school you apply to. Real screenshots from the app:

Phase 1 · Off-season

Build your audition book

Save songs you’re working on to lists you control. Track each song’s lifecycle — learning, ready, retired — so the songs you trust on the day of an audition are easy to find when you start filling out school applications.

1

Track every song’s lifecycle

My Repertoire groups every song you’re working on into Learning, Ready, In Use, and Retired. The In Use column auto-populates whenever a song lands in a school’s pre-screen or audition slot, so it’s immediately obvious which songs are doing real work and which are still on the bench.

  • Status pills toggle inline — no separate edit screen
  • “In Use” links straight back to the application that’s using the song
  • Coach-pushed suggestions arrive as a separate “From My Coach” list
2

Curate your book into the lists that fit your process

Build as many lists as you need — a Belt 16 book, a contemporary book, a Golden Age book, a list per coach. Add library songs in one click, or drop in a custom title for something the curated catalog doesn’t cover yet. Those lists become the source for the “From List” tab in the picker later.

  • Personal lists you own, plus coach-managed lists when your coach is connected
  • Add library songs OR custom titles — same list, mixed sources
  • Lists carry over to every application without re-typing

Phase 2 · Application season

Plug the book into every school

When you open a school’s application, the song slots already know how many songs the school wants and which rules apply. The picker pulls from the curated catalog AND from the lists you built in Phase 1, with the cut info you save here scoped to this application — so the same song can carry a different cut at each school.

3

Every slot tells you what the school is asking for

Open any school’s application and the Material Submission card shows the program’s real requirements pulled from the school’s own materials — how many songs, what contrast they want, whether they participate in MTCP and which option they accept.

  • Song count auto-matches the school’s requirement
  • MTCP option (where applicable) is surfaced inline, prescreen-only
  • Pick from the curated library, pull from your own list, or add a custom title
4

Smart Selection narrows the catalog to songs that fit this slot

The picker pre-applies filters based on the student’s voice profile and what the school is asking for — MTCP option for pre-screen, pre-screen safety, voice type, and range. The chip strip at the top of the modal makes those filters legible, and a single click clears them if you want to browse the whole catalog.

  • Filters chained from voice profile + the slot’s school requirements
  • Full-text search on title, show name, character, composer, lyricist
  • Pagination across the full match set — not a silent 24-row cap
5

Pull from the audition book you built in Phase 1

The same picker has a From List tab that pulls songs out of any list you saved in My Repertoire — the audition book you’ve been refining all season, a coach’s curated suggestions, or a featured starter pack. Curate once, drop into as many applications as you need.

  • Your personal lists and coach-pushed lists in one place
  • Library picks route through the same cut-info form so the metadata stays consistent
6

The cut goes with the song

Picking a song from the catalog opens a confirmation card with the song’s voice type, era, tempo, difficulty, pre-screen safety, and vocal range already populated — plus a form for the four things that change per school: cut info, bars, key signature, and slot notes.

  • Voice / era / range / pre-screen-safety chips pulled from the catalog row
  • Cut info, bars, key signature, and slot notes saved per-application
7

Edit the cut without losing the song

Once a song is saved, Edit opens a focused dialog with the song info read-only and the cut fields prefilled. Save patches just the changed columns. Replace is a separate action with its own confirm so a stray click can’t blow away the cut you’ve been refining.

  • Edit ≠ Replace: tweaking the cut never destroys the song selection
  • Replace prompts before discarding the cut — opt-in only

FAQ

Common questions

How many songs are in the MyMT Manager library?
The current catalog has 862 curated audition cuts drawn from 173 musicals, spanning Golden Age standards through current Broadway. Of those, 707 are flagged as prescreen-safe for the typical BFA prescreen video.
How is this different from a published audition book?
Published audition books are curated for a specific voice type or skill level and rarely tag songs against the prescreen-overdone lists each school's faculty actually publishes. Our library tags every song with voice type, tessitura, MTCP option fit (A / B / C), and a prescreen-safe rating — so a student can answer 'what should I sing for the November prescreen at Michigan?' instead of just 'show me Mezzo-Soprano ballads.'
How do you keep the data accurate?
Every entry is sourced from MTI, Concord Theatricals, Rodgers & Hammerstein, the original cast recording, or a licensed vocal selection. New additions go through three independent validation passes: composer / lyricist, show and character, and voice / tessitura / difficulty. Our fabrication rate on new entries since the validate-first workflow shipped is 0%.
Can I see the full library without signing up?
The full filterable catalog lives in the MyMT Manager app at app.mymtmanager.com/repertoire. Free accounts can browse and filter the entire library; paid plans add audition-plan tracking, contrast-pair suggestions, and integration with the school requirements database.
I spotted an error in a song entry. What should I do?
Email parag@mymtmanager.com with the song title, show, and what's wrong. Corrections typically ship within 48 hours and a citation to the source is added to the entry's notes.

Audition repertoire that holds up to a coach’s scrutiny.

MyMT Manager pairs the song library with school requirements, deadline tracking, and contrast-pair suggestions — so every audition cut is the right cut for the right school.
